MP al-Bizri calls for securing potable water, maintaining infrastructure to prevent Cholera spread
MP Abdel Rahman al-Bizri said on Monday that 50 Cholera cases have been reported so far in Lebanon.

Al-Bizri’s comments were made during a radio interview whereby he noted that a meeting will be held today to detect new cases, adding that the reported cases are not just among Syrian refugees but among the Lebanese citizens too.

He emphasized the importance of securing potable water and maintaining infrastructure to prevent the spread of the epidemic and reach the stage of danger, while assuring that there is no fear of infection transmission through surfaces.

In the absence of sufficient sterilizers, al-Bizri expressed fear that the epidemic would spread faster, especially in schools, especially official ones.

He also urged parents to teach their children about food hygiene and to forbid food sharing.

As for the vaccines, he explained that their production does not meet the needs of the market, adding however that the Lebanese government is seeking to obtain them in the event the epidemic spreads.
