EU allocates €800,000 to respond to rapid cholera outbreak in Lebanon
The European Union announced on Wednesday an allocation of €800,000 for community water and sanitation and hygiene interventions in cholera-concentrated areas in Lebanon.

The Union stressed that the EU’s ongoing humanitarian programs are working to redirect efforts to address this new emergency.

Furthermore, European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič stated that the situation in Lebanon is going from bad to worse, with nearly 80% of the population living in a state of poverty, considering that cholera is an indication of this deteriorating situation and could not come at a worse time.

“EU funding will allow our humanitarian partners to deploy rapid response teams and ensure that affected communities consume safe water,” Lenarčič added.
