Jumblatt: I believe in the Egyptian people
The head of the National Struggle Front Walid Jumblatt called on political leaders in Egypt to avoid inciting sectarian strife in the country adding that all pending issues could be resolved through governmental institution instead of futile violence.

Jumblatt told Al-Anbaa newspaper that he believes in the wisdom of the Egyptian people and the Military Transitional council to cooperate and find a peaceful outcome for the clashes that slammed Egypt on Sunday night. Jumblatt called on the concerned authorities to investigate and unveil the true cause of the clashes and to stop the people involved, stressing on the need to protect religious sites and to track Salafi movements’ activities and their financing sources.

On the other hand, Jumblatt wondered about the true reasons why the Iranian movie “Red White and Green” was banned in Lebanon, adding that such actions are not of Lebanese values and against media and cultural freedom.

“We wonder how the Islamic Republic of Iran, a country that gave the world such prominent writers and poets as Saadi, Hafez and many others, would intervene to ban such a movie; or did the Iranian Ambassador Abadi take this decision alone? I raise this question to the Lebanese Government,” Al-Anbaa quoted Jumblatt as saying.
