MP Hadi Abu al-Hassan to LBCI: Classifying depositors is unacceptable

MP Hadi Abu al-Hassan confirmed on Tuesday that the capital control issue should have been discussed since the beginning of the crisis.

Abu al-Hassan’s comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show on LBCI, whereby he explained that “the process of guaranteeing deposits does not necessarily mean that the Lebanese will get all their money in cash.”

“They can get part of their deposits in cash at specific periods,” he said.

He then stressed that “classifying depositors is unacceptable, and it is not allowed to discuss Capital Control without reconsidering the recovery plan.”
