Gebran Bassil condemns allies for securing cabinet meeting quorum

Monday’s cabinet meeting is unconstitutional, illegal, unconventional, and is an execution of the constitution, said Free Patriotic Movement leader Gebran Bassil on Tuesday.

“We will not accept what occurred, and the issue will not pass. What happened is nothing less than a robbery of the Presidency of the Republic position based on previous insistence and determination,” Bassil added.

Bassil slapped allies, stressing that if “someone thinks that he is pressuring the FPM on the presidential, it will not work.”

“This matter leads to greater intransigence. Returning to pre-2005 requires exile, imprisonment, or killing. As long as we are alive, there is no going back to that stage,” Bassil added.

Bassil stressed that a third of the government was not participating yesterday, and a component was excluded.

The FPM leader added that their role is their weapon. They will not give it up, adding that what happened struck the balance that had been achieved during the era of President Aoun after a long struggle for the movement and the bloc.
