Daher: LDC is our way of communicating with the world

Kuwaiti Daily al-Rai published an interview with LBCI CEO Sheikh Pierre Daher whereby it revealed the reasons behind the launching of LDC [Lebanese Diaspora Channel] as a branch off to the already accumulated “tug of war” between Daher and Saudi prince Walid bin Talal.

Sheikh Daher stressed that the torrential channel remains outside the framework of the conflict, adding that LBCI Europe, Australia and America “is ours”. However, he saidd, that the dispute revolves on the latter channels leading to the temporary disruption of their broadcast “until a solution is found.”

As for LBC Sat, the ownership of that channel belongs Bel Talal, Daher confirmed.

“I remain adamant on receiving the rights stipulated by the early termination of the contract as an institution within PAC,” he added, stressing that LDC is an independent channel which “technically purchases programs from LBCI.”

LDC is a company registered in Cyprus, where it also broadcasts, and is owned by Lebanese shareholders.

“Media has turned into clusters due to the changes that have occurred throughout the Arab world,” Daher said, expressing doubt that the Syrian and Egyptian media would suffice in providing adequate programs due to the turmoil overtaking the two countries.

“LBCI remains on a straight path towards prosperity and I feel very positive about the future,” he said.

In his concluding remarks, Daher reassured viewers that ‘Star Academy” would have its come back in 2013.
