Introduction to the evening news 13-01-2013

The storm ‘Olga’ ended, but the stormy atmosphere created by the Orthodox gathering’s electoral law proposal continues to rage as if it was the only one, and without it the worst things would happen.             

“Olga” ended, and left behind it white mountains and opportunities for the Lebanese people to enjoy the snow, but the enjoyment has also its tax which is traffic jam. The main cause of the traffic problems is the citizens’ violations and irregularities.            

However, Energy Minister Gebran Bassil was quoted as saying that those who are refusing equal sharing, referring to the Future Movement and the centralists, are the godfathers of treason, confirming that the Orthodox gathering’s proposal is “our only project.”        

In this context, the recent alignment of the Lebanese parties concerning the electoral law is increasing the mystery of the issue.              

On the other hand, the main concern which is prevailing remains the issue of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon which was transferred to Cairo where an extraordinary meeting for the Arab Ministers was held. This development came at a time when the Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi said that ending the violence in Syria can only be achieved through the deployment of peacekeeping forces.
