3G service in Lebanon beginning November 1

During a speech at the American University of Science and Technology on Thursday, Telecoms Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui revealed the official start date and pricing for 3G coverage in Lebanon.

Beginning November 1, Lebanese mobile and Internet users will be able to choose between two data plans on the new 3G network: 100 MB of data for $10/month or 500 MB at $19/month. Data plans will be made available for both post and prepaid lines.

The much-anticipated public release of 3G coverage comes after two months of trials with around 4,000 users. Questions have been raised as to whether the network will be able to sustain high speeds as some early trial users reported significant drops in speed as additional users were added to the network.
