Kassar: Wage raise decision not a real solution

The head of the economic bodies Adnan Al Kassar said that the wage raise will not bring a definite solution to the problem; rather, it is more like a bandage: inflation will continue.

“This decision will increase inflation and unemployment rates which will negatively influence the national economy”, Kassar said.

During a broad meeting for the economic bodies held at the Biel to discuss the issue of wage adjustment, Kassar stressed that the economic bodies’ refusal of the decree is not intended to harm workers.

“We call on workers to engage in an open dialogue which is the only way to find an exit to this crisis”, Kassar said, urging officials to assume their responsibility on the social level.

Kassar stressed that the solution lies in a comprehensive social-economic policy, calling on all parties to devise a long-term plan to put an end to inflation and unemployment.
