Jumblatt: Wage scale approval will leave negative repercussions

The leader of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that randomly approving the ranks and salaries series without "fully preparing it" may leave negative repercussions on many levels, despite the eligibility of the demands. He noted that such a move will turn the series into fake promises which the government will not be able to fulfill.

In a statement to al-Anbaa Newspaper, Jumblatt pointed out that dealing with this issue in an arbitrary way will widen the existing gap between various sectors. “Why not conduct a comprehensive and integrated study for every issue related to the social benefits of the Lebanese people in order to unify approaches and visions, to reduce divisions and to bridge the gaps in the services?” Jumblatt asked.

On the issue of the electoral law, Jumblatt said that the PSP will seek to reach a consensus between all political parties regarding an electoral project which combines the majoritarian system with the proportional system.
