Mikati praises UN statement, orders respect to military court in Mawlawi case
                                                                     
Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Speaker Nabih Ain el-Tineh on Friday with talks featuring high on pending issues facing the country.                    

Following the meeting, Mikati asserted that he tackled with Berri the latest developments, mainly the necessary steps to be adopted in line with safeguarding the country's security and stability.                    

In this context, PM Najib Mikati announced that Lebanon welcomes the United Nation's statement in regards to the Syrian matter, describing it as "constructive".                   

The UN Security Council expressed on Thursday "grave concern" over cross-border attacks between Syria and Lebanon, in a statement agreed upon during closed talks.                        

Council members expressed their concern over incidents of cross-border fire which have led to death and injury among the Lebanese population, incursions, abductions and arms trafficking across the Lebanese-Syrian border, as well as other border violations.                      

The Security Council's statement also stressed the importance of full respect for Lebanon's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.                     

Asked about the lawsuit filed by Judge Saqr Saqr against the terrorist group which includes Shadi al-Mawlawi, Mikati said that the military court ordered to free al-Mawlawi and "we must all respect the military court orders."                

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr charged on Friday ten people with belonging to an armed group and the al-Nusra Front.                   

The 10 men include Shadi al-Mawlawi, who was released on bail upon his arrest in the northern city of Tripoli in May last year, alongside another man.

Earlier, Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Industry Ministry Vrej Sabounjian in the Grand Serail and discussed the Ministry’s internal affairs.                    

In this context, Sabounjian said that the file of the series of ranks and salaries is not gridlocked.                         

For his part, PM Mikati mulled with Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji the Military institution’s work as well as the security situation, and discussed later on with the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon Riad Saleme the financial affairs of the country.
