Geagea: Cabinet’s reluctance will place border areas in danger

Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea called Friday on the Lebanese government to take a clear stance in regards to the deployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces on the Lebanese-Syrian borders and the expansion of resolution 1701’s scope in the area.

Geagea said that the situation on the Lebanese-Syrian border crossings is worrying especially after regime forces threatened to attack and shell border areas.

Geagea added that the cabinet should demand applying articles 11 and 14 of resolution 1701 to expand the work of the international forces and support the LAF in protecting the northeastern borders.

“The reluctance of the government will place bordering areas in danger,” Geagea said.
