Ministry of Agriculture: Situation of locusts swarm "highly reassuring"

The general director of the Agriculture Ministry, Louis Lahoud, stressed on Monday that the swarm of locusts that had arrived to Lebanon over the weekend should not spark fear, adding that the municipalities as well as other concerned departments are following up on the issue on a daily basis.

During a press conference held in the Agriculture Ministry, Lahoud said that the situation is highly reassuring since the cold weather has killed most of the plague, noting that the Agriculture Ministry is well prepared using pesticides and all necessary equipment to kill locusts if need be.

In parallel, Lahoud stressed that the Ministry is ready to address this phenomenon on the technical and humanitarian level, and called on media institutions to cooperate in this regard.
