Marwan Charbel calls for extending the mandate of Gen. Ashraf Rifi

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said on Friday that the efforts exerted by the government were very productive, and pointed out to the speech delivered by the Prime Minister Najib Mikati whereby he highlighted the need to resort to dialogue.

In this regard, Charbel said that the elections will not be held should the majority of the Lebanese parties boycott the 1960's electoral law, and added: "A new law needs preparations but if the parties fail to reach an agreement, no electoral law will be adopted".

On another note, Marwan Charbel stressed the need to extend the mandate of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) Major General Ashraf Rifi.
