Connelly: Lebanon’s failure to commit to STL would result in serious repercussions

The U.S. embassy said Monday that U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly confirmed during her meeting with Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun in Rabiyeh that “the events in Syria do not destabilize the situation in Lebanon.”

The embassy added that “Connelly explained to Aoun that the U.S. expects Lebanon to fulfill its international obligations including those related to the STL funding”, voicing U.S. concerns that Lebanon’s failure to commit to the STL would result in severe repercussions.
