Will the Lebanese University students’ summer vacation end anytime soon?

The doors of the Lebanese University are still closed due to the strike carried out by the full-time professors for more than five weeks in protest of their demands not being met after the cabinet approved a series of ranks and salaries.      

This strike does not only affect the current academic year, but also the results of last year’s exams since students are still waiting for the second session’s start date to be set.      

In this regard, Issam Khalifeh, member of the Lebanese University Full-Time Teachers' Association said that the university’s reform plan starts by approving the teachers’ rights.      
In parallel, the dialogue between the cabinet and the Teachers’ Association is ongoing and the meeting they held on Monday afternoon witnessed the beginning of a rapprochement between the two parties, according to concerned sources. The major dilemma that lies in the disagreement on the salary demanded by teachers is moving closer towards the solution.
