Hollande calls on Lebanese factions to abide by Baabda Declaration

French President Francois Hollande called on Monday Lebanese politicians to abide by the Baabda declaration in a bid to preserve the country's sovereignty and  stability.

According to Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3), Hollande called his Lebanese counterpart Michel Sleiman to congratulate him on Easter Day, stressing the importance of Lebanon implementing the dissociation policy.

The French president urged Sleiman to preserve Lebanon from the negative repercussions of the conflict in the neighboring countries.

It is worth mentioning that in the Baabda Declaration, 16 political leaders from the March 8 majority alliance and the March 14 opposition agreed to avoid rhetoric that fuels sectarian strife.

Lebanon is sharply divided over the Syrian crisis with politicians from the March 8 camp backing President Bachar Assad, while the Western backed Match 14 alliance supports the opposition uprising.
