MP Aoun: Rifi's mandate was one of corruption

Through a television interview on Tuesday evening, Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun said that he "does not work to please anyone in a position of authority" pointing out that caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati had the intention to manipulate the law in a way that serves his own personal interest.

MP Aoun said that the mandate of former Internal Security Forces General Director, Major General Ashraf Rifi was one of rampant corruption, adding that cabinet does not have the right to extend "such a mandate".

As for the issue of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon, MP Aoun warned of the severe repercussions that could follow should the numbers continue to rise.

"300 thousand refugees can become armed men inside Lebanon," he stressed.
