ISF warn against dangerous virus affecting mobile phones and computers

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces announced on Saturday that the cybercrime and intellectual property unit has launched an investigation in a virus affecting mobile phones and computers, noting that this phenomenon is wide-spread across the Middle-East.

In this regard, the ISF said in a statement that hackers are able to render inoperative the users' Windows after they display a false alert that says: "The ISF shut off your computer for breaching copyright content on the web; you must pay a $200 fine."

The statement added that the virus affects computers when accessing a porn website or downloading an unknown program.

Its is worth noting that the ISF have called on the Lebanese people not to pay any fine via credit card, and to resort to the cybercrime and intellectual property unit should any violation occur.
