UCC calls on Mikati to refer tax-free pay scale to Parliament
       
The Union Coordination Committee (UCC) called on the Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to refer the series of ranks and salaries to the parliament, steering clear of imposing taxes on low-income people.       

Following its meeting with Caretaker Finance Minister Mohammed al-Safadi, the UCC stressed that it will refuse all deals beyond the agreements they brokered so far, noting that "Safadi has signed the project and referred it to the Parliament's general secretariat.        

Cabinet referred the wage scale to Parliament following weeks of nationwide protests on Thursday [March 21st].          

The Union Coordinating Committee had launched its open ended strike on February 19th 2013 after making repeated called on Prime Minister Mikati to validate the new salary scale and consequently refer it to Parliament for ratification.
