Delegation of deputies, independent figures visit Salam

Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam met on Monday with a delegation of deputies and independent figures and discussed the issue of the cabinet formation.

Following the meeting, MP Boutros Harb voiced his support for a cabinet whose mission will be to supervise the parliamentary elections, stressing the need to abstain from imposing names and candidates for ministries.

Harb noted that the principle of rotation of cabinet portfolios must be adopted in the process of appointing ministers.

“The new cabinet should perform its duties in managing the country’s affairs and supervising the elections,” he added.
