Soueid to LBCI: Jumblatt has become part of the Arab Spring

March 14 General Coordinator Fares Soueid said on Monday that MP Walid Jumblatt voiced support for the Arab Spring during the PSP General Assembly, adding that “political and sectarian forces in Lebanon will now be categorized on the basis of the Arab Spring headline.”

Soueid told LBCI that Jumblatt’s speech shows that he does not want to lock horns with Hezbollah or engage in any confrontation with the party. Commenting on the “Lady of the Mountain” gathering, Soueid said that the gathering was based upon the texts of the church, confirming that the Christian interaction with Muslims in Lebanon was looked upon favorably.

Souaid described PM Najib Mikati as “competent and successful person”; he however added that “Mikati cannot seize control over the Sunni leadership in Lebanon.”

On the Syrian crisis, Soueid said that “[The Syrian regime] is no longer strong due to the courage of the Syrian people.”
