Elie Aoun: Jumblatt is still a centrist

National Struggle Front MP Elie Aoun told Nharkom Said TV show that the Head of the Front MP Walid Jumblatt does not often resort to drastic shifts in his political position, stressing that Jumblatt is still adopting a centrist policy.

“Do you want him to stand idle and be an immovable rock in light of the Syrian events, just so people would not accuse him of flip-flopping?” Aoun wondered.

Aoun said that Hezbollah and Jumblatt do not see eye to eye on the issue of funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, stressing that by not funding the STL, Lebanon will be presenting an excuse for the West to sabotage the country to benefit Israel on a silver platter.

Aoun expected the cabinet to vote in favor of funding the STL, since it cannot afford the repercussions of the second option.
