Finance committee allows cabinet to disburse trillions over budget limit

The Finance and Budget Committee held a session on Tuesday at Nejmeh Square where it allowed the cabinet to disburse 8.9 Trillion LBP beyond the budget limit.

In this context, Future bloc MPs Ghazi Youssef and Jamal Jarrah responded in a press conference held at the Parliament to the remarks of the Finance Committee’s chairman MP Ibrahim Kanaan on the public finances calculations.

Jarrah said that the accounts are available at the Lebanese Central Bank, and not in a private bank, accusing Minister Charbel Nahhas of being a “barbarian”.

For his part, Youssef regretted that Kanaan went back to using “barbarism” instead of “change and reform”, throwing accusations through questions, notes and fallacies. “Kanaan does not know what he is saying”, he said.
