Hobeiche: PM-Designate Salam will not concede to a “blocking third”

Future Bloc MP Hadi Hobeiche said on Monday that “the force of arms that Hezbollah and its allies are using as threatening means are stronger than the constitution and have the power to form cabinets and parliaments”, adding that these parties are underestimating the minds of the Lebanese people by saying that the formation of a one sided cabinet is possible.

Hobeiche told LBCI during Nharkom Said that serious talks are being held in regards to the formation of a cabinet made up of 8 ministers from March 8, 8 ministers from March 14, and 8 other independent ministers and mentioned that Prime Minister-Designate Tamman Salam will not concede to the presence of a “blocking third” in the cabinet.

As for the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the formation of the cabinet, Hobeiche said that Saudi Arabia does not impose a governmental formula, stressing that the Kingdom’s main concern is Lebanon’s stability.
