MP Alain Aoun to LBCI: March 14 coalition responsible for keeping the 1960 draft law in effect

Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun stressed on Thursday that some parties are buying time in order to pave the way for the extension of the parliament's mandate or the adoption of the 1960 draft law.

In an interview with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show, MP Aoun reiterated that the only law that yielded the majority of votes was abandoned, he said in reference to the Orthodox Gathering draft law, holding the March 14 coalition responsible for keeping the 1960 draft law in effect.

"Our choices are clear and we initially suggested to change the electoral law. We sought electoral laws that serve the whole Christian community and we were counting on a Christian party which unfortunately reached a one-sided deal," MP Aoun added.

On another note, MP Aoun said that the Change and Reform bloc did not request that Tripoli's Maronite seat be moved to Batroun, but instead pinned the blame on the March 14 coalition.
