MP Arslan says no return to the 1960 draft law

Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan held on Thursday a press conference whereby he said that the political system in Lebanon has compromised the national charter, noting that any political system that fails to guarantee social equity should not exist.

In this context, MP Arslan called on the Lebanese parties to avoid the electoral laws that serve personal interests, adding that fair representation comes through a fair electoral law.

MP Arslan called for the commitment to the people-army-resistance equation, and to hold a national conference in a bid to reform the "corrupt" political system in Lebanon.

Separately, the Lebanese Democratic Party leader stressed that "there is no return to the 1960 draft law", and expressed reservations over the Orthodox Gathering draft law despite the fact that he supports it, adding that the General Authority session held yesterday (Wednesday) at the Parliament was "shameful".
