PM Salam holds meeting at South Lebanon Disaster Management Unit: Government strives to provide essential supplies for displaced people

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held a meeting at the Disaster Management Unit headquarters in the South Governorate, accompanied by Social Affairs Minister Haneen Sayed and Disaster Management Unit head Zahi Chahine.

The meeting was attended by South Governor Mansour Daou, Sidon Mayor Mustapha Hijazi, representatives of all security agencies and the Lebanese Red Cross.

Salam listened to a briefing by Daou on the current needs in the districts of Tyre, Zahrani, Jezzine and the city of Sidon, particularly regarding shelters that have been activated in phases, as well as existing logistical and service-related challenges.

The prime minister said the government is making every effort to secure all essential requirements for displaced residents and ensure the readiness of shelters. He stressed that lines of communication remain open among various administrations and relevant agencies to accelerate response efforts and address any shortages.

Salam noted that work is underway to equip all centers with basic supplies, with distribution already beginning, while specialized teams continue efforts to secure food, water and other essential needs.

He also emphasized the importance of municipalities and all security forces remaining on high alert to facilitate citizens’ movement and regulate traffic, praising the field efforts of the Lebanese Red Cross and security agencies.
