Arslan calls on Berri to extend the parliament’s mandate

Head of the Lebanese Democratic Party, MP Talal Arslan said on Saturday that he asked from House Speaker Nabih Berri to extend the parliament’s mandate for 2 years since the security is not suitable for holding sincere and transparent elections.

Following a meeting with Speaker Berri at his residence in Ain el-Tineh, MP Arslan said that the main aim behind the elections is maintaining peace and democracy.

Arslan said that Speaker Berri took into consideration the proposal of the Progressive Socialist Party Leader MP Walid Jumblatt which is related to extending the parliament’s mandate.
