Netanyahu: 10-day ceasefire agreed, Israel to keep security zone in Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there is an opportunity to reach a historic agreement with Lebanon.

He added, “Our main demand is the dismantling of Hezbollah.”

Netanyahu said he had agreed to a temporary 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon.

He also stated that Israel would remain in southern Lebanon within a security zone extending 10 kilometers in depth.

Netanyahu stressed that Israel had not agreed to Hezbollah’s demand to withdraw from southern Lebanon and return to the international border.

“We will remain in Lebanon in a broad security zone extending to the Syrian border,” he said.

On Iran, Netanyahu noted that President Donald Trump had told him he was determined to continue enforcing restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz and to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
