PM Salam condemns targeting of journalists, vows to pursue accountability internationally

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said the targeting of journalists and obstruction of rescue teams constitute “clear war crimes,” in a post on X.

Salam said that attacking journalists, hindering aid teams from reaching them, and then targeting the same locations again after responders arrive amounts to “well-defined war crimes.”

He added that Israel’s targeting of media workers in southern Lebanon while they carry out their duties is no longer isolated incidents, but has become a “documented pattern” that Lebanon condemns and rejects, as do international laws and norms.

Salam said Lebanon “will spare no effort” in pursuing these cases before relevant international bodies.

He also extended his condolences to the family of journalist Amal Khalil, her colleagues and friends, and the broader Lebanese media community, while wishing a speedy recovery to journalist Zeinab Faraj.
