President Sleiman condemns the "terrorist" attack on LAF soldiers in Arsal

President Michel Sleiman met on Tuesday with Lebanese Army Commander Jean Kahwagi at the Baabda Palace.

LAF Commander Kahwagi briefed President Sleiman over the attack on the three LAF soldiers in the town of Arsal.

For his part, President Sleiman condemned the "terrorist" attack, saying that such acts aim to foment strife in the country.

He also called on the Lebanese Army to intensify the investigations to reveal the perpetrators, urging it to be firm while dealing with any similar attacks on the army or security forces which destabilize civil peace in Lebanon.

Three Lebanese Armed Forces' soldiers were killed after unknown assailants opened fire at them at 3 am dawn in the region of Wadi Hmeid on the outskirts of Arsal, North Eastern Lebanon.

The LAF took airtight measures in the region in order to identify the assailants who escaped towards the Syrian territories.
