Al-Rifaei to LBCI: Extending the parliament's mandate is "flagrant violation of constitution"

Constitutional expert Hassan al-Rifaei asserted on Friday that the extension of the parliament's mandate set to be approved today is a "flagrant violation of the Lebanese constitution."

Al-Rifaei noted during a phone call with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show that MPs were not able to draft a new electoral law since they attempted "to tailor an electoral law to suit their needs."

He urged President Michel Sleiman "to save the country", adding that the extension will be rejected if the Constitutional Council approves the appeal.
