Social affairs minister says reconstruction and recovery are key post-war priorities

Lebanon's Social Affairs Minister Haneen Sayyed said the government is preparing a comprehensive approach for the post-crisis phase, placing reconstruction and recovery at the center of its national priorities.

Speaking about the government's plans, Sayyed said the objective is not simply to restore conditions to what they were before the war, but to rebuild in a way that is more sustainable and resilient while giving residents the opportunity to remain on their land and live with dignity.

She stressed that humanitarian funding cannot serve as a substitute for ending hostilities and protecting civilians, emphasizing that ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance remains essential.

Sayyed added that lasting recovery will require both international support and conditions that allow affected communities to rebuild their lives safely and sustainably.
