Jumblatt: Beirut has become an unregulated complex of skyscrapers

National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt said on Wednesday that Beirut has become an unregulated complex of skyscrapers due to unmonitored building laws and regulations.

"These skyscrapers cut off light and air from old buildings which represent the heritage of the capital and its ancient history," he said.

Jumblatt added that Beirut’s municipality has financial capabilities that allow it to buy some of these ancient real estate sites in order to prevent their destruction.
