LAF foils attempt of Islamist detainees’ relatives to block roads

The relatives of Islamist detainees staged demonstrations on Sunday in some regions across Lebanon.

The demonstrators wanted to stand in solidarity with their detained relatives who went on a hunger strike for general amnesty.

The demonstrators blocked Mkhayel road junction in Chiah, in the presence of the LAF and security apparatuses.

The relatives of Islamist detainees attempted to set tires on fire, a move blocked by the LAF. They moved then to Mcharfieh where they joined other demonstrators. A verbal clash erupted between the LAF and demonstrators, when the latter reattempted to burn tires.

In Bekaa, demonstrators set tires on fire, blocking the international road of Majdal Anjar that links Lebanon and Syria. However, the LAF reopened the road.
