Suicide Attempts On The Rise In Lebanon
Civil Defense rescue teams prevented on Thursday a young man from jumping off a rooftop near Al Zahraa Hospital in Beirut’s Jnah region.

But this young man is only a specimen of a larger problem at bay.

One person commits suicide every three days in Lebanon, statistics have shown.

Last month, the Psychiatry Department and Embrace Fund at the American University of Beirut launched the first national awareness campaign to prevent suicide under the patronage of Health Minister Wael Abou Faour.

Efforts are being exerted to slash the rate of suicide in Lebanon but living in a country that does not provide its citizens with the basic services is indeed a tragedy.
