Vampires have long been a subject for terrifying stories and tales turned into movies and TV series, including supernatural strength to an unfortunate taste for human blood.
However, a pair of real life British vampires Vanian, 53, and Ethereal Dark, 27, who both hail from Manchester, say their lives as vampires is somewhat different from what is usually revealed.
Even though they spend their days sleeping and do drink blood, the married couple insists that they would never take it without asking.
They eat garlic, they like churches, they do not sleep in coffins and do not walk around with fangs either.
They do enjoy a drop of blood or two from volunteers, who have been dubbed by the vampire community as 'Black Swans,’ who have to get a health certificate.
'Too much blood would make you vomit, we drink blood twice a week and we do eat other food, mainly red meat,' adds Vanian.
The couple said they would like more people in their world and hope that in time, people will become more accepting of their lifestyle.
“I'd like people to understand that we are real and that we are here to stay,” says Vanian. “We are not horrible or evil and we want acceptance for what we are.”
