Located in North Lebanon in the district of Zgharta, the town of Miziara welcomes visitors with a life-size nativity scene, before revealing a surreal panorama, and bizarre examples of massive structures.
In a tour taken by VICE, Miziara is highlighted as the village of which you will find an airplane house, a pyramid house, a Greek temple-like house under construction, as well as other attractive sites that will make you stop.
Airplane house:
Built in 1975, the Airbus A380 replica is the flashiest of all local buildings. Composed of two floors, 30 portholes on each side, a short and roundish nose cone, two reactors on each wing; it is a detailed copy of a the aircraft. Note the statue of the Virgin Mary on its tail.
Greek temple:
Up the dirt road sits in state what promises to be a proper Greek temple slowly taking shape amid piles of wide marble stones.
Pyramid house:
Some of the Miziarans who emigrated out of the country did not come back, which is why one of the town's notables has started to offer money to second, or third-generation emigrants to return to the village, discover their culture, and apply for Lebanese citizenship.
