Morocco’s king appoints Abdelilah Benkirane new PM

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI appointed Abdelilah Benkirane, the Secretary General of the moderate Islamic “Justice and Development Party” that won the most votes in the legislative elections, as the country’s new head of government on Tuesday.

The Justice and Development Party won 107 seats in the early legislative elections held on November 25th, and will lead a coalition government for the first time, under the supervision of the king, as accustomed in the Moroccan Kingdom.
