Syrian President Bashar Assad said that Syria is pushing ahead with the reform process, adding that these reforms do not contradict the efforts exerted by Syria to recover the citizens’ safety and security.
Assad warned that it is necessary to be aware of foreign countries’ plots against Syria, especially after they targeted the national armed forces who are charged with protecting citizens and public property.
“Western countries are exerting pressure not because they are concerned about the Syrian people and the reform process as they claim, but because they want Syria to make concessions. This will not happen because the Syrian people chose to have an independent will and sovereignty”, Assad said.
President Assad said that overcoming these events requires wisdom and wide cooperation, adding that conflicting opinions are healthy as long as they are aimed at nation building.
President Assad called on all the clergymen and officials to promote cohesion between the Syrian citizens and participate in the reform process.
