2 Yemeni soldiers killed in Zinjibar’s mine blast

According to a Yemeni military source, 2 soldiers were killed in a mine blast in the city of Zinjibar, South of Yemen.  

The Yemeni government said in an official statement Saturday that it had managed to “liberate” the city of Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan province. 

Zinjibar was seized by al-Qaida-linked Islamic militants in late May, taking advantage of the political turmoil unleashed by months of protests against Yemen's longtime ruler Ali Abdullah Saleh.

“The government forces have control on the northern part of the city”, AFP reported citing a military source.
