European Parliament urges Assad to step down
The European Parliament urged Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down immediately, adding that Assad lost his legitimacy for disproportionate use of force against protesters.  

In a resolution adopted in Strasburg, the European Parliament condemned the use of violence against protesters, Human Rights activists, democracy advocates and journalists, calling on Assad to step down.   

The European Parliament also called for an independent and transparent probe into the assassinations, arrests, detentions, forced disappearances and torture cases that Syrian security forces have been accused of
