Biden announces new economic partnership in Asia and Pacific

US President Joe Biden announced in Tokyo the launch of a new economic partnership in the Asia-Pacific region, comprising 13 countries, including the United States and Japan, but excluding China, which views the project with skepticism.

The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework is not a free trade agreement, but it does call for greater cooperation among member countries in four areas: the digital economy, supply chains, clean energy infrastructure, and anti-corruption
