UN: Number of forcibly displaced people exceeds 100 million
The United Nations has warned for the first time ever that the Russian war in Ukraine has resulted in more than 100 million people being forcibly displaced around the world.

"For the first time ever, the number of people forced to flee conflict, violence, human rights violations, and persecution has surpassed the staggering figure of 100 million, owing to the war in Ukraine and other deadly conflicts," UNHCR said in a statement.

According to the UNHCR, this "alarming" figure should shake the world and push it to end conflicts that are forcing record numbers of people to flee their homes.
