UNICEF says Ukraine war pushes 4 million children into poverty

The UNICEF said on Monday that the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its economic repercussions pushed 4 million children into poverty across Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The organization added that “children bear the greatest burden of the economic crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.”

"High inflation has pushed an additional 4 million children in Eastern Europe and Central Asia into poverty, an increase of 19 percent since 2021," it added.
