Jumblatt and Lavrov discuss Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Lebanon's role

Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Foreign Minister, and Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow.

The meeting included discussions on the international and regional situations.

In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that "during the conversation, they exchanged in-depth views on the crisis in the Middle East."

They emphasized "the rejection of further escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the involvement of other countries in the region, especially Lebanon. 

At the same time, they reiterated "Russia's steadfast support for the sovereignty and unity of the Lebanese Republic and the integrity of its territories."

The participants also discussed the domestic political aspect of the situation in Lebanon, emphasizing the "need for the Lebanese themselves to find solutions as soon as possible to urgent issues on the national agenda based on mutual agreement and without external interference."

They highlighted the importance of continuing the gradual development of the "traditional and multidimensional" relations between Russia and Lebanon.
