World Bank approves $146 million in aid to help restore electricity in Syria

The World Bank announced on Wednesday that it has approved a $146 million grant to help Syria restore reliable and affordable electricity supplies and support the country’s economic recovery.

After 14 years of war, Syria’s electricity sector suffers from extensive damage to its grid and power stations, a crumbling infrastructure, and chronic fuel shortages.
