Ever Wondered What Trees Sound Like? Here's Your Answer

German designer Bartholomäus Traubeck has managed to create a modified record player that takes wood slices of a tree and makes music from the inner rings.

The device takes in data via a PlayStation Eye Camera and a stepper motor attached to the control arm, which is then transcribed in Ableton Live.

The record player is simply magic as it translates the sound of wood and Mother Earth into music.

Traubeck named his project “Years” and chose to use piano tones to translate the visual image of the wood rings.
