REPORT: LBCI team enters Hezbollah apartments in Abra

      
LBCI crew managed to enter the two controversial Hezbollah apartments, believed to have been one of the main instigators of the 2 day clash in Abra, between the Lebanese Armed Forces and supporters of Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir.         

The apartments which are located near the complex of Sheikh Assir's mosque were handed over to the Lebanese Army.

Meanwhile, the LAF units deployed in the region are still patrolling the city of Sidon.          

Fighting in Sidon city began Sunday after troops arrested an al-Assir follower. The army says the cleric's supporters opened fire without provocation on an army checkpoint.            

Official reports said at least 17 soldiers were killed and 50 were wounded in the fighting while more than 20 of al-Assir's supporters died in the battle, according to a security official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to talk to reporters.             

Al-Assir is a virulent critic of the powerful Shiite group Hezbollah group, which along with its allies dominates Lebanon's government.

This as Government Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr continues to oversee investigations conducted by the Directorate of Intelligence in the Lebanese Army. 180 suspects have been arrested, but only 35 have so far been released.

For his part, the head of the Popular Nasserite Organization Osama Saad warned against some Lebanese parties whom he said are using "the sectarian rhetoric to foment strife in the country."

He also urged the judicial authorities to arrest as soon as possible the perpetrators of the attack against LAF soldiers in Sidon.
